The 599 of Ferrari has inspired a good range of potent variants. After the GTB Fiorano, the Italian car marque came up with the HGTE version which improved the car’s handling dynamics. Ferrari also released the HY-KERS concept, China Edition, GTO, and the track version 599XX. The Ferrari 599 aso had roadster variants in the form of the SA Aperta and the P540 Superfast.

The automotive world expects the 599 range to have a replacement soon, but there are rumors going around that a final variant may come off the assembly line to give the 599 a big bang exit.

Car forums and online boards are making a loud buzz as aficionados of the brand are speculating that Ferrari might pay homage to its Formula One star by doing a Fernando Alonso special edition Ferrari 599.

The words going around say that the 599 special edition in tribute of Fernando Alonso will be the lightest of the 599 brood, and of course quicker. Some say the Alonso Edition Ferrari 599 will be rolled out by January 2012 and will only have a limited run of forty units.

All the speculations might have stemmed from a video where the F1 driver Fernando Alonso took the F10 Tribute Edition around the track. You can watch this video we are talking about below. The car driven by Alonso though is a 599 GTO tweaked in Scuderia.

Ferrari has remained mum about the rumors and all we can do is wait if truly a Fernando Alonso 599 will be rolled out. In case Ferrari decides to give it a go, we will let you know.

The BMW M5 was first introduced to the world at the Amsterdam Motor Show in 1984, and was considered the most high performance sedan of its time, thus the appeal of the car to many consumers. And the BMW M5 is still one of the best loved sedans in its class, even though the competition has increased of the recent years with cars that are similar offered from Mercedes and Audi.

The first BMW M5 was designed with the consumer in mind who wanted a roomy sedan, but still wanted the performance of a sports car, which is what most consumers want. What is interesting about the manufacturing of this car is that all the parts were assembled by hand, which made certain that each car received a certain amount of tender loving car that helped for exceptional performance. Though these were considered the first sports sedans of their day, they were still riddled with numerous options in 1984. For example, power sun roof, cruise control, power seats, on board computer and so on. Which made these sedans the pride among all the luxury sedans that were available to own.

From 1989 to 1995, this was considered the second generation of the BMW M5. During this time, there were several changes made to the motor that the sedan’s were running. They started off with a 3.6 liter, then increased that to a 3.8 liter engine, in order to increase power and to supply for the demand that consumers were making. In addition, this was the time in which BMW changed the tires of the vehicle. Beforehand, most professionals viewed the M5 series as having what many referred to as white wall tires, which was not the image that the company was going for. So they changed these tires to look more luxurious and basically fit into the brand image much better. Needless to say, many people found this to be a huge cosmetic improvement.

The E39 M5 is considered the third generation of the cars. There really was not many changes that were made during this time, however, the degree to which each car was hand made was reduced as the company wanted to meet the demand of these vehicles. All of these models in this generation were equipped with a six speed manual transmission, as well as a few cosmetic changes that were introduced through this generation. For example, the headlights and rear lights were upgraded, while there were rear airbags added to the headrest, a safety first for many manufacturers.

The E60 M5 was produced from 2005 to 2010. This car saw the removal of fog lights because the car needs the space that fog lights normally occupy in order to cool the brakes off. The E60 also took the award for best performing sports sedan, which is a top honor to have. The F10 M5 is starting to be produced during the 2011 year. This car is going to reflect newer technology, a less weight in order to improve performance, and will also use the seven speed semi automatic transmission that so many other BMW M5 uses.

The Ferrari Enzo first came to the automotive world in 2002 and was named after the Ferrari founder Enzo Ferrari. This car was designed with Formula One racing in mind. The body is constructing of light material in order to allow for superior performance, while the engine is a redesigned V12 engine (contrary to the Cali’s V8). In addition, all of the factors, such as braking, traction and the aerodynamics were designed in order to give the best performance that any street legal car could give.

The production of the Enzo is a very selective process. During the first year, they intended to make only 350 of these vehicles. Which they then sold before they were even manufactured to customers that were loyal customers. However, after the success of this, they did build around 50 more cars. One of which appeared in the blockbuster hit, “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle”. This means that finding a Ferrari Enzo is a complicated and usually bitter process, simply because they are so limited that most people keep a hold of them no matter what and keep them as collector cars.

When professionals have actually driven the car, they are surprised at the handling. However, they do warn that those are not professionals should be careful when trying to handle the car when going at fast speeds. The reason is that the car can easily get away from you because of the power of the engine. However, as far as speed, most agree that the Enzo is top of the line. One of the drawbacks that professionals touch on when reviewing the vehicle is that maintenance of the vehicle cost a pretty a penny. For example, the oil for the Ferrari Enzo is around $60 per quart. Which means that you will pay around $800 for an oil change. For those that think that they can get past this, consider that Ferrari does not honor the warranty if the oil is not changed properly and uses the same kind of oil that they suggest. And if you look at the possibility of having the car completely ruined, then you may pay as much as $200,000 out of pocket. Which means that the reality of owning a Ferrari Enzo for many, is going to remain a distant dream.

The body is made from a carbon fiber blend, which makes the weight less and the performance of the engine is better since the engine is not having to pull all of that weight that could slow it down. In addition, Ferrari did as much as they could to reduce the weight everywhere else in the car, which does show in the performance of the car.

The Ferrari Enzo has won many awards since it was first designed. It was considered one of the top five sports cars to own, as well as being considered one of the greatest Ferrari’s that has ever been made. However, it was also named one of the ugliest cars of the past 50 years. However, most people would disagree with this ruling and point out that those who drive one of these, often comment on the beauty of the car.

As if the standard LFA wasn’t exceptional enough, Lexus recently announced that its customers can now get a hold of the limited edition LFA Nurburgring Package. This package pumps up an extra 10 horsepower to the already powerful 4.8-liter V10 engine. The engine, minus the package, can generate an impressive 552 HP. With the Nurburgring limited, it packs up a whopping 562 peonies.

In addition to that, the car can now sprint from zero to 62 mph or 100 kilometers per hour in just 3.7 seconds. The reported top speed of the LFA is 202 mph or 325 kilometers per hour. For this package, Lexus also reduced the gear-shift time by 0.05 seconds so customers can now enjoy faster gear changes. LFA fans should hurry, though because there are only 50 units on sale.

The Nurburgring Package includes suspension geared for sports, exclusive mesh-type black wheels, and special high-grip tires added for improved handling. The car will also have a bigger front spoiler and a permanent rear wing which will improve its down force on high speeds. Four colors for the exterior will be offered by Lexus. These are white, matte black, orange, and black. Interior colors include red, black and violet.

If we may believe the Lexus Talk blog, Lexus also announced that all units for this package will come with a carbon fiber console at the center and carbon fiber door trims. The initial price of the package is pegged at $70,000, although the matte black variant is sold $20,000 pricier. The standard LFA comes with a $375,000 retail price tag.

BMW just proved that there is indeed no such thing as a bad publicity. After a long string of global catastrophes, both man-made and otherwise, it wasn’t very surprising that a camouflaged BMW X3 would trigger a bomb scare in a Museum in New York. Apparently, the innocent test driver of the X3 just decided to leave the ignition running so he could “take a walk in the park”. This is according to the New York Daily News report.

Capping the unintended publicity stunt, the Bomb SQUAD arrived to investigate the running BMW, Hurtlocker-style. Talk about making a cinematic entrance. At the end of the day, though, nobody was hurt, except for the SAV’s rear window. The squad had to break this open to make sure that the vehicle was, indeed, harmless. The good news is, now everybody’s talking about the German car manufacturer.

Driver Martin Birkmann clarified that this wasn’t intentional. He said that it was a misunderstanding, and he was only out to test drive the car. It’s very clear that the man wasn’t on the job, though, when the Bomb SQUAD arrived. They wouldn’t have bothered diffusing the crowd if someone was behind the wheels of the running BMW in the first place.

But the marketing ploy (intentional or unintentional) did work, so let’s just go with the natural flow of things. Here’s the official announcement: the BMW X3 will be introduced late this year. Whether the stunt affects the sales of the X1 or X5, we still don’t know.

Volkswagen is dead serious about their goal conquering the top by 2018 and they want to lead in every automotive segment possible. This includes electric vehicles and hybrids. VW recently announced their plans of building electric powertrains. They also boast off a concept car that is zero-emission that is dependent on an electric motor.

Volkwagen gives us a hint of things to come with the 2010 VW Milano Taxi that was specifically designed as a green solution for public transportation. The Milano Taxi spots a small MPV body using the design lines of a possible production version of the minicar Up range. Other features are customizable touch screens and swivel-sliding door.

The Milano Taxi is about 12.3 feet long, 5.24 feet high and 5.4 feet wide. It depends on an electric motor which can output a max 114 horsepower and can bring the car to a top speed of 75 miles per hour.

The electric motor gets its power supply from lithium ion battery pack that is integrated with the underbody of the car. The weight of the car at 3,306 pounds and the battery capacity to store 45 KWh can bring the car to a stretch of 186 miles, of course depending on the driving style.

The battery takes only an hour to charge it up to 80% but it can also depend on the charging infrastructure and the charge state of the battery.

According to the VW Blog, Volkswagen also confirmed its plan of launching their first electric vehicle to go on production by 2013.

Car maker McLaren went down in automobile history with its production of the McLaren F1, which is one of the speediest cars to date. So when the company revealed its plans to produce new models in the near future, it was received with hoots of anticipation from McLaren fans all over the world.

Reports say that three new models are in the works. An entry level model of the McLaren sport car would cost around $100,000; another model would carry a new V8 engine to challenge the likes Lamborghini Gallardo and the Ferrari F430; and of course a supercar that is the assumed successor of the F1 car.

Click here to view the embedded video.

McLaren’s new regional headquarters for Middle East and Africa is being set up. With its new models in the world, perhaps the company would make deals with oil businessmen and global leaders who reside in the region. Ian Gorshcuch will be the head guru for this region’s office. Even if no exact location has been divulge for the region’s new HQ, reports say that the car company is making rounds for possible retail locations somewhere in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain and the UAE.

McLaren will also set up a service center in Lebanon. Rumors of expansion for the Asian market are also circulating. McLaren appointed Gorshcuch to lead the new regional HQ as a preparation for the 2011 world launch of McLaren’s new range in their sport cars: the new P11 that is powered with a powerful V8 engine.

In 2008, Audi debuted its new S5 and A5 Cabrios along with the Q5 SUV with its price tag and tested in North America. Two yeas from now, Audi is set to launch a new model to the market with the four door coupe, the A7, which is set to debut as the 2011 model.

Since Audi decided to invest millions in their Neckarsulm plant, production is sure to go now that the plant is made to meet the new upgrades for the A7. According to the report published in Auto Motor und Sport, the production will kick off late in 2010, sealing the assumed date of its U.S. debut in 2011.

Audi has prepared a wide variety of engines that will be made available for the A7 model as well as for its S7 and RS7 models. Diesel-electric hybrid engines and V10s with 600HP are made available. The hybrid engine is said to come out first in Audi’s Q5. The rumors say that a diesel-electric engine is in the work but Audi might settle for a petrol version instead.

The starting models of the A7 will get the V6 engines. The first is a 2.8L V6 engine with 204 HP for the base A7. A 3.0L supercharged powertrain comes with a 300HP. The S7 model will come with an additional 94HP in its 4.0L V8. Of course, the 600HP 5.0L twin-turbo powertrain is the A7’s model top engine. The S7 and RS7 models will not be released on the same year, two years preferably, with the S7 set to roll out in 2011.
